Where we grew up and our travel history experiencing different cultures creates our impressionable cannabis worldview. So far, we have learnt of two pillars for cannabis development:
- Participatory Development
- Women in Cannabis (WIC) & Women and Cannabis (WAC)
We encourage and support the participation of every gender, special interest groups and communities. Therefore, creating a just plant medicine industry for all. This allows me to introduce a new pillar:
- LGBTQ+ Community & Cannabis
The acronym above represents, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or questioning, intersex, asexual, two-spirit and many ways in which people choose to self-identify. Historically, both cannabis users and the LGBTQ+ community have faced significant oppression and marginalization. Hiding in the closet, in light of public view, for recognition, equality, and social acceptance.
Moreover, if the LGBTQ+ Community were a country it would be the world’s fourth (4th) largest economy, with a GDP of $4.6 trillion. Their voting dollars at our dispensaries & businesses do matter! I’m pro development and I beg of you to join me in the fight for:
LGBTQ+ RIGHTS AND ACCESS TO CANNABIS
These are never easy conversations to have and engage each other but, these are necessary discussions which serve as building blocks for equitable weed developmental policy outcomes. Circumnavigating and championing a cannabis industry, where all are welcome to receive medical, therapeutic and compassionate cannabis care.
Did you know, the LGBTQ+ community members are more likely to experience social isolation, food insecurities and homelessness?
Do diversity and inclusion lead to better employee retention & community relations?
Did you know, young LGBTQ+ members increase use of cannabis following a rise in depression symptoms?
What has your experience been as a LGBTQ+ member, working within the industry?
Can we all unite, under a unified umbrella or banner?
Should we put our differences aside and work towards a common and greater good?
What do you think?
